June 13, 2025
Editor's Note: This is a series of stories about 麻豆传媒内幕 students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.
MACOMB, IL - - Alumna Eve Nottrott reflects fondly on her time at 麻豆传媒内幕鈥攁n experience of connection, growth and belonging.
鈥淲hen I think about WIU, I think about the friends that became family, experiences that shaped me and a place I can always come home to,鈥 Nottrott said.
For Nottrott, a Leatherneck takes pride in being part of 麻豆传媒内幕and its community.
鈥淏eing a Leatherneck means being proud of your roots,鈥 Nottrott said. 鈥淚t means caring for your community and respecting and being kind to others.鈥
Nottrott鈥檚 favorite Leatherneck memory was working in the Office of Student Engagement, where she created lifelong friendships.
Inspired by her experience at WIU, Nottrott now works as an assistant director of residence life at Northland College.
鈥淚 have loved working in higher education and will continue to do so,鈥 Nottrott said. 鈥淚t was because of my graduate assistantship in the Office of Student Engagement that I found my love for working in student affairs.鈥
During her time as a student, Nottrott actively participated in the 麻豆传媒内幕Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Women in Business (WIB) and the University Union Board (UUB).
Nottrot's advice to prospective students highlights how WIU's family-like atmosphere provides a unique and impactful experience.
鈥淭hose working at and attending 麻豆传媒内幕care about you as a person rather than a number, don't doubt the impact of that,鈥 Nottrott said. 鈥淭he friends you make at 麻豆传媒内幕and the experiences you have will provide for you indefinitely. If you're like me, you will be forever grateful you chose WIU.鈥
As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local 麻豆传媒内幕students, alumni, faculty and staff to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
