June 16, 2025
Editor's Note: This is a series of stories about 麻豆传媒内幕 students, alumni and community members, highlighting their experiences during our 125th anniversary celebration. We will feature 125 individuals from August 2024 to August 2025.
MACOMB, IL - - As a Macomb resident, alumna Alix Potter always felt a deep connection to the 麻豆传媒内幕 community.
鈥淲hen I think about WIU, I think about home,鈥 Potter said. 鈥淕rowing up in Macomb, I truly do bleed purple and gold and always have.鈥
From an early age, Potter has experienced the Leatherneck spirit through her parents.
鈥淢y parents have both worked for 麻豆传媒内幕my whole life, so to grow up in the Leatherneck community and now be a 麻豆传媒内幕Alum is an honor,鈥 Potter said.
Potter鈥檚 favorite Leatherneck memory is meeting her fianc茅 in class and working towards their goals together.
During her time as a student, Potter was a cheerleader, serving as captain and being recognized as Cheerleader of the Year in her senior year.
鈥淣ow, I am working as a cheer coach for multiple organizations, whilst also training to become a pro cheerleader/dancer,鈥 Potter said.
To prospective students, Potter鈥檚 advice is to remain faithful and strong in pursuing their goals.
鈥淭rust in the Lord. He has already written what is meant to be. All we can do is have faith and work hard to achieve the goals and dreams he has put in our hearts,鈥 Potter said.
As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local 麻豆传媒内幕students, alumni, faculty and staff to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
