MACOMB, IL - - Meet Zachary Orr, a 2025 graduate of 麻豆传媒内幕's Public Safety Administration graduate program, who serves as chief deputy for the Pike County Sheriff鈥檚 Department in Pike County, IL.
Orr has served in the Pike County Sheriff鈥檚 department for 26 years and came to 麻豆传媒内幕to further his education and enhance his abilities for his career. He served as a dispatcher and correctional officer before taking the role as chief deputy in Pike County.
鈥淢y time at 麻豆传媒内幕 had a major impact on my career,鈥 Orr said. 鈥淭he faculty at 麻豆传媒内幕were outstanding. They brought many years of real-world experience and education into the classroom, and they taught in a way that connected directly to the work we do in law enforcement.鈥
Orr emphasized the practical skills he learned at 麻豆传媒内幕as he works toward his future goals.
鈥溌槎勾侥谀籫ave me more than classroom learning,鈥 Orr said. It gave me confidence, practical skills and a strong foundation for leadership. The education and guidance I received at 麻豆传媒内幕helped prepare me for this opportunity to run for Pike County Sheriff in 2026 and I am proud to use what I learned to serve the people of Pike County.鈥
As an alum, Orr plans to stay connected with the faculty and program that shaped his career.
鈥溌槎勾侥谀籶layed an important role in my education and professional development and I want to give back whenever I can,鈥 Orr said. 鈥淚 hope to return to campus for events, guest lectures or discussions where students can benefit from real world law enforcement experience.鈥
